Florim with his Volunteer of the Year Award

Florim Kukaj was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Association of Medical Facility Professionals North Central New Jersey Chapter at their 2nd Annual Awards Gala (2026). The Volunteer of the Year award is selected by chapter members and recognizes individuals who made meaningful contributions in support of the chapter’s initiatives and programs.

Florim has taken on an active volunteer role since joining the chapter just over two years ago. He has contributed across several committees, including Public Relations and Communications/Digital Media, and currently serves as Co-Director of Programs. In that role, he leads accredited educational webinars, organizes in-person events throughout the year, and coordinates outreach and joint programming with other organizations in the healthcare industry.

Through the chapter’s Young Professionals Committee, Florim mentors students and early-career professionals pursuing careers in healthcare architecture and design. He is passionate about helping them better understand the profession, explore the many career paths it offers, and build their own professional networks. He frequently represents the chapter at industry events, introducing prospective members to the organization and helping grow the chapter’s volunteer community.

Beyond North Central New Jersey, Florim serves with the AMFP Greater New York chapter as Head of the Public Relations Committee and continues his mentorship efforts there as well. He also sits on the board of the Healthcare Facilities Management Society of New Jersey, where he leads the Young Leaders Program focused on mentorship, networking, and educational opportunities for the next generation of healthcare facilities professionals.

Florim said, “What I value most about this community is how knowledgeable people are and how willing they are to share that knowledge. None of us build our careers in a vacuum, and being involved allows me to give back to the community that helped shape my professional path. I’m grateful to play a small role in carrying that forward, especially for younger professionals entering our field.”

We are proud of Florim’s contributions to our team and his continued efforts to support and strengthen the healthcare design community through service and mentorship.
