Our work on the replacement for Splendora Junior High represents the starting point of our partnership with Splendora ISD. With space for academics, athletics, fine arts, and CTE, the facility is high-performing and purposed for junior high student achievement.

The library/media center and cafeteria form the heart of the school, a central hub that all other spaces branch off from. In the library, wood walls offer a natural element while fostering optimal acoustics. Collaboration spaces engage students, promoting a culture of innovation while allowing faculty to passively supervise. Ample glazing puts learning on display.

The hub configuration was a major draw for the district. To understand their goals and preferences, we took the board on tours of schools throughout the North Texas region. In the end, they opted for the efficient organization and ease of operation of one of our Dallas-area designs. The adapted floor plan meets the district’s criteria for a safe and secure facility that allows for full visibility and continuous supervision. Ultimately, the design was so successful that they asked us to repurpose it for two additional elementary schools.
