Formerly an intermediate school, this facility now provides early learners in pre-kindergarten through 1st grade with vibrant interactive zones. Huckabee’s environmental graphics team designed cheerful wall-length murals that set each zone’s theme, from ocean exploration to community.
These dynamic spaces open a world of possibility for instruction. With minimal time and effort, students can move chairs and tables to group up or break out. Interactive fixtures, like playhouses, a cash register, and a campsite on artificial turf, encourage tactile engagement.
Wayfinding features throughout make navigation easy and fun. Color coded tiles in the halls pave the way to corresponding learning zones, where painted door frames and focus walls reinforce each zone’s color.
Other updates include remodeled restrooms, fresh coats of interior and exterior paint, and updates to flooring, lighting, and ceilings. A new drive improves traffic flow. Students also received new indoor and outdoor playscapes.
Kennedale’s ECC is a source of community pride. The district’s superintendent considers the innovative facility his legacy, and at the ribbon cutting, students were ecstatic about their new school.
