Forney ISD’s Opportunity Central is being called “the future of education,” and its innovative design is changing how students and the community experience learning. Recently, Principal Kate Dunfee, AIA, RID, spoke with WFAA about how the campus challenges traditional ideas of what a school can be.
“The classroom that we know was designed around the Industrial Revolution, and it hasn’t really changed a whole lot,” Dunfee told WFAA. “Schools now are starting to reflect on that and say, ‘What’s next?’”
At Opportunity Central, that question is reflected in the design itself. The campus brings together education, career exploration, workforce development, and community spaces, creating opportunities for students to gain real-world experience while still in high school.
As schools continue to evolve beyond the traditional classroom model, Opportunity Central demonstrates how thoughtful design can help shape what comes next. Read the full WFAA report to learn more about the vision behind this future-focused campus.
