Immersive Space Designed by Igloo for The OC in Forney, TX

The LEX Immersive Space at Keith Bell Opportunity Central, designed by Igloo, brings learning to life at full scale through an immersive, three-walled digital environment. Read more about Igloo’s impact on this immersive space

Forney ISD’s Keith Bell Opportunity Central is a high school campus breaking the norm. By bringing students, professionals, and community members together, the OC creates new opportunities for authentic, future-ready learning.

A campus with that level of ambition needs technology capable of supporting it.

The Immersive Space, designed in partnership with Forney ISD and Indiana Wesleyan University, is the innovative gem of this campus. Powered by nine projectors, the three-walled learning environment surrounds users with floor-to-ceiling projected content, giving Forney ISD a powerful tool for immersive learning, collaboration, and community engagement.

For students, stepping into the LEx feels different from entering a traditional classroom. Content fills three walls, placing them inside the lesson rather than in front of it. Teachers can use the space to make abstract subjects more tangible, while students can explore simulations and navigate 3D environments that provide visual context for their classroom discussions.

The space allows students to travel through the solar system or interact with ocean animals right from their campus in central Texas. Teachers can lead students through virtual field trips, converting lessons into experiences that bring ideas to life at a grand scale.

Local businesses and colleges can reserve the space to host virtual and in-person meetings, share ideas, and collaborate on a larger scale. The Immersive Space also allows architecture students to explore their designs at life-size scale. For our firm, the technology makes it possible to guide clients through facilities and explore design concepts without requiring VR headsets or traveling to distant campuses.

For Huckabee, the LEx demonstrates what is possible when technology is thoughtfully integrated into educational design. It allows students, educators, and the community to experience ideas together at a scale that an individual computer screen cannot provide.

We’re only moving forward, and technology is here. If you’re not using technology like this, you’re really being left behind. This is the way forward.

The LEx gives Forney ISD a step forward, using technology to its fullest potential while expanding how people learn together.
