Benold Middle School Replacement

The 35-acre site allows for plenty of room for the school building, site amenities such as an athletic field, tennis courts, and concessions as well as ample parking and room for on-site water detention as needed.

The building responds to the orientation through use of shading devices and roof slopes that allow soft light in, blocking the harsh warm sun. Upon entry you are greeted by the reception and adjacent administration space, controlling access into the school.

The school is centered around the main dining hall. This two-story volume becomes the heart of the school and boasts learning stairs, performance space, and views into adjacent spaces, including the second-floor library and teacher collaboration room. Off of the dining core, are classroom pods, fine arts, athletics and plenty of daylight. A multi-purpose dance studio will be carried throughout the project as an alternate.

The color palette of the school remains neutral, allowing the school colors, mascot and student work to create pops of color throughout. The floor finishes range from polished concrete to durable tile. The windows within the building allows for transparency and visual connection.
