The new C.E. King High School will be an educational, cultural and iconic hub for Sheldon students, teachers and the community. It is arranged into six academies that support personalized and collaborative learning experiences that encompass core curriculum along with career / college coursework. The academies include: Business and Industry; Agriculture, Manufacturing and Construction; Public Service; Human Services; STEAM; and an Early College High School. The school is arranged along a central spine that connects the academies to the media center, student union, fine arts, performing arts center and athletics. Connectivity between spaces and access to the outdoors were key design themes. Courtyards, pathways and outdoor gathering spaces bring to mind a college campus and promote spontaneity in learning and social activities. The high school will share a site with the new 10,000-seat stadium, indoor practice facility, natatorium, arena and athletic fields.
