Cohen Children’s Medical Center is an American College of Surgeons Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. To accommodate an anticipated increase in volume, Northwell Health sought to create a new pediatric surgery suite in an existing shell space. The new 37,600 SF facility includes eight pediatric operating rooms, 27 pre- and post-op recovery beds, new intake area, consultation rooms, and support areas. The project is comprised of a 23,000 SF fit-out and 14,500 SF renovation. The interior design is playful and lively, based on best practices in designing for pediatrics. The space offers pleasant distraction, pops of color, and engagement spaces for patients, accommodating the important role of families in the healing process.
E4H planned and designed the children’s health tower, including the shell space for this anticipated surgery center.
