Cook Children’s sought to expand services and establish a pediatric primary care clinic in Waxahachie, Manhattan, Aledo and Hurst.
The renovation brought the space up to hospital standards, updating exam rooms, family areas, and co-functioning office/therapy rooms with views into observational playrooms. Design strategies emphasized behavioral health needs, incorporating Cook Children’s signature purple palette, biophilic color transitions, and enhanced privacy measures to create a calming, family-friendly environment. Interior upgrades included new flooring, wall protection, millwork, countertops, lighting, plumbing fixtures, outlets, and signage.
To overcome minimal and outdated drawings, E4H leveraged laser scans provided by the owner and contractor to produce accurate documentation, including updated floor, site, and ceiling plans. This proactive approach addressed critical gaps early, preventing cost and schedule impacts. Close coordination with the project manager and contractor enabled completion in 14 construction phases while the clinic remained fully operational, requiring meticulous sequencing to protect patient care and sensitive interactions.
