Harlingen Welding Lab Extension

This project expanded welding instruction capacity at Texas State Technical College’s Harlingen campus through a 5,000-square- foot pre-engineered building addition and targeted renovations to the Industrial Technology Building. The expansion introduced 40 new welding booths, automated welding stations, and metallurgy lab space to support advanced training and workforce development across the Rio Grande Valley.

The design included upgrades to the supporting mechanical and electrical systems, as well as new storage and instructional areas to enhance functionality and safety. Huckabee began the project with a test-fit and feasibility analysis to determine optimal site utilization, cost, and phasing. The project then advanced through design and construction, achieving Fall 2020 occupancy and delivering a future-ready facility aligned with TSTC’s mission of hands-on, industry-based education.
