The goal for the transformation of Hope Elementary School was to capture the essence of the existing facility and elevate the learning environment for students. Key improvements include a renovated library, vibrant and modern classrooms, and a dedicated STEAM classroom, all of which contribute to creating engaging and dynamic educational spaces. The modernization effort also involved updating five existing buildings, affecting 20 classrooms, and expanding and modernizing the Administration/Multi-Purpose building.
As part of the modernization, ten relocatable buildings were removed and four new one-story buildings were constructed. Classrooms were designed as flexible spaces and the STEAM room, includes flexible worktables and stools, a perforated wall for hanging tools, and ample cabinetry for storing supplies.
In the new multipurpose facility, the design team raised the ceiling and made the stage a permanent feature, embedding it into the wall and adding wooden steps leading to a rectilinear floor design in the school’s colors.
Outside, the centrally located courtyard serves as a flexible communal space for gatherings and learning. A large open gateway at the school’s entrance defines the entry point and provides shade for students waiting to be picked up.
