Justin Elementary School

Justin Elementary School is centered around a high-volume dining and learning commons that serves as the heart of the campus. Designed to evoke the habitat of the school’s jaguar mascot, this space supports a wide range of learning and social activities with varied seating, integrated breakout areas, and access to an outdoor courtyard. A connected cafetorium and adjacent community space extend the building’s use beyond the school day, supporting events, performances, and gatherings.

Grade-level learning communities are arranged around the commons, with classrooms organized to promote collaboration. Each community includes shared flex space, focus rooms, and presentation areas that support both group instruction and individualized learning. Movable walls within classrooms allow teachers to adjust their spaces to meet evolving needs, while transparency between spaces encourages visibility and connection.

Outdoor courtyards on multiple levels expand opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Throughout the building, biophilic design elements create a connection to nature, from natural materials and daylighting to moments of shelter and openness that support exploration.
