This project for the Clark County School District replaced an outdated inner city school built in 1955 with the same state-of-the-art facility from other schools in the newest Las Vegas, Nevada neighborhoods. Construction of the building took place on top of existing athletic fields to maintain school functions throughout the building process. Football, baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts and track replaced the demolished original buildings.
This 2,700-student prototype high school organizes around a two-story interior mall that admits daylight to the internal classrooms and provides for secure student circulation. The flexible design allows for a number of organizations that range from an “all-in-one” to a “house concept” or small learning community configuration. This school also features a technology magnet program.
