Shady Grove Fertility Atlanta is a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery and fertility clinic with laboratory space, cryogenic storage, exam rooms, collection rooms, and administrative/office space. The interior design creates a comforting, home-like environment that fosters a sense of tranquility for patients undergoing fertility treatments, a process that is both physically and emotionally exhausting.
Amongst the many project initiatives, a significant effort was directed towards improving the overall experience for patients and workspaces for staff. Special consideration was given to office space ensuring that staff had natural light, area for breakout meetings, and a built-in coffee bar.
Focusing on material health was a critical factor in making design decisions, which impacts both people and the planet. To eliminate the negative effects that traditional materials have on reproductive health, the design team selected low- and zero-VOC finishes, mastics, and sealants. All carpet tiles meet Cradle-to-Cradle guidelines, meaning they have been designed and assessed for environmental and social impact across material health, material reuse, renewable energy, carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness. The carpets are carbon neutral and are manufactured in a carbon neutral manufacturing facility.
