Sr. Structural Project Engineer

Blake is a Sr. Structural Project Engineer. He has served as the Lead Structural Designer on more than $1.1 billion in construction (SEOR for over $450 million) for K-12 and higher education facilities, healthcare, and recreational projects. Blake is passionate about the impact he has on communities and the profession through his work, particularly his involvement with the ACE Mentorship Program which inspires and supports future generations of AEC professionals.

Blake is also actively involved in industry initiatives and leadership opportunities to improve the built environment. In collaboration with NIST, he prepared an initial case study of the impacts of the proposed ASCE 7-22 Chapter 32 Tornado Loads provision on K-12 schools in the DFW region, and ultimately, co-authored NIST TN 2214 “Economic Analysis of ASCE 7-22 Tornado Load Requirements.” These works were referenced in the proposals for the new provisions to the ASCE 7-22 Wind Load Subcommittee, ASCE 7-22 Main Committee and the ICC Committee Action Hearings for IBC 2024. Blake also co-authored the April 2021 Dallas SEAoT presentation, “ASCE 7 and ICC 500 Changes Regarding Tornadic Loads.” As a committee candidate for the American Society of Civil Engineers, Blake is committed to wholly carrying out the duties of the position to promote that the safety, reliability, productivity, and efficiency of structures affected by the Standards are maintained or improved, and to act as a steward of the profession and the built environment.
