BRAND

E4H

E4H partnered with the State of Maine Buildings & General Services to design a modern pathology laboratory and medical examiner facility that replaces an outdated building with a secure, efficient, and sustainable solution. Spanning 20,000 square feet across two stories, the new facility is purpose-built to meet the evolving needs of the jurisdiction while supporting advanced forensic and diagnostic capabilities.

A key feature of the design is a Bio-safety Level 3 (BSL-3) autopsy suite, engineered to safely manage cases requiring strict isolation protocols. This specialized environment ensures medical examiners can perform critical work while minimizing risk to staff and the surrounding community.

Beyond its technical sophistication, the facility emphasizes environmental responsibility. The design integrates renewable energy systems, such as solar panels or wind energy, alongside energy-efficient technologies including high-performance insulation, advanced HVAC systems, and smart lighting controls. These strategies significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint, aligning with the State’s long-term sustainability goals.

Through thoughtful planning and innovative design, E4H delivers a secure, high-performance facility that supports public health, enhances operational efficiency, and reflects a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.
