Killeen ISD’s new Central Administration Building creates a workplace designed to support innovation and collaboration among district leadership, staff, and families. The facility’s “Lighting the Way” concept reflects the district’s role in creating opportunities for their community. Just as education illuminates pathways to the future, the building provides a purposeful setting for leadership to advance the district’s mission.
The project transforms a former call center into a welcoming, cohesive workplace tailored to the needs of a complex administrative organization. Strategic department adjacencies encourage collaboration and improve daily operations. A full-service kitchen provides a convenient amenity for staff. Lighting and wayfinding features reinforce the project’s guiding theme, helping visitors and employees navigate the building with ease.
At the heart of the design, the central “Main Street” serves as the building’s organizational spine. The path connects the public entry to organizational departments, conferencing spaces, and the Board Room. Strategic spatial planning creates a safe and secure environment. Flexible features, including operable partitions within the Board Room, allow the building to adapt to meetings, professional development, and community events.
