The Huckabee PM/CM team provided on-site management services for the $42.2 million modernization and renovation effort at Sussman Middle School. The project consisted of the construction of a new science building, a new gymnasium building, and the modernization of existing classroom buildings. Our management services were essential to delivering the project within the district’s schedule and budget. Construction management services included on-site construction supervision and team coordination to ensure that the construction effort fulfills the district’s vision and needs for the project.
The phased modernization and new construction project faced multiple challenges, including its extensive scope on an active campus, the onset of Covid shutdowns, and material lead time issues. Additionally, an unexpected gas leak discovered during construction necessitated collaboration with the gas company. Our proactive approach, combined with meticulous documentation and coordination, ensured the successful repair and eventual relocation of the gas line. Our forward thinking also allowed us to anticipate and mitigate impacts on upcoming activities affected by the issue. Working closely with the general contractor and site, we rephased remaining stages and upheld the original project schedule.
