Godley High School, Phase 2 and 3

Huckabee partnered with Godley ISD to develop a multi-phase master plan for their high school that enables the district to expand capacity and programming over the course of multiple bond cycles. The first phase focused on core components. Phase 2 aims to increase campus capacity by 500 students. It brings an innovative, multi-faceted approach that integrates two unique purposes—career and technology education plus athletics.

The primary goal is to expand CTE programs and certification options while unifying coursework within a single wing. The addition includes classrooms and labs for Ag, computer science, health science, hospitality, engineering and architecture, A/V, business entrepreneurship and education. The school’s spirit store and floral lab are accessible from the main lobby, providing opportunities for students to engage in business with the public.

The team also utilized the addition to create a more accessible experience for sporting and non-sporting events. The 4-story CTE wing incorporates spaces that serve a dual function for learning and stadium events such as a hospitality space for a future culinary program and for game day concessions and AV spaces that that are outfitted to support the TV studio during the day and the stadium at night. The elevated walkway that curves around the stadium to connect the CTE wing to the high school also provides a unique viewing experience for events.

This innovative project seeks to combine education and athletics in unique and exciting ways. It provides students with more opportunities for learning and certification while expanding the use of the stadium beyond its traditional purpose, keeping it activated throughout the day. Additionally, the project is designed to be a community asset, with plans for future public partnerships and events.

Phase 3 focused on a fine arts addition, which includes two visual art labs, a new choir suite, and a new band suite. The visual art labs are adjacent to indoor and outdoor collaboration space and the CLI, providing creative opportunities to work on, present, and display projects beyond the classrooms.
