The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group (TSAOG) sought to expand their existing practice with a state-of-the-art facility that reflects the high quality of care they provide. E4H planned and designed the new, three-story, 100,074-square foot medical office building and ambulatory surgery center, the largest of its type in Texas. The project required meticulous space planning from the outset, and close coordination with expert consultants to navigate the technical complexities and code requirements for a building of this size.
TSAOG Ridgewood includes outpatient surgery, urgent injury clinic, physical therapy, specialty hand practice, imaging services, and the John J. Hinchey Conference Center. Visitors enter through a grand lobby on the first floor which includes physician offices, phlebotomy and lab, MRI, sterile processing, retail space, and the conference center. A mock OR features dynamic glass that can be turned on and off, allowing patients to see the care they will receive.
The second floor houses the Physical Therapy gym with a glass curtain that overlooks the grand lobby. A 13-bay casting unit, 41 outpatient exam rooms, chiropractic services, and X-ray are also located on the second floor. The third floor Ambulatory Surgery Center includes four general ORs and four orthopedic ORs, six pre-op bays, 22 PACU bays, four observation rooms, two procedure rooms, and staff lockers.
