The project includes approximately 19,000 square feet of selective demolition and interior renovation to modernize the facility’s structure, building systems, and overall layout. The instructional lab supports hands‑on automotive repair training, with a portion of the space leased by Tesla for vehicle testing and evaluation.
The design reinforces Texas State Technical College’s Performance‑Based Education (PBE) model by prioritizing open, collaborative learning environments that support experiential instruction. Seven former classrooms were reconfigured into two large instructional labs, removing physical barriers and improving visibility, flexibility, and connectivity to create a more integrated learning experience for both students and instructors.
Renovation scope includes new interior walls, floor and ceiling finishes, relocation of data and technology infrastructure, and installation of a new mechanical system to support the updated layout and instructional needs.
