Elba designs and details structural systems, coordinating with consultants and architectural, civil, and MEP disciplines to determine structural constraints and provide guidance to the project team. As a team-oriented engineer, she loves working with her industry colleagues to produce safe, well-designed structures. Staying on schedule, making quality contributions, and leaning into her curiosity are among her highest values.
As a leader, Elba gets to know her team’s strengths and the activities they most enjoy, and then she creates the conditions that allow each individual to flourish. She stays available when the going gets tough, providing both support and space, and emphasizing the importance of reaching out to others to ask questions.
Elba strives to design structures as efficiently as possible while capturing the intent of the architect and providing a safe space for the public to enjoy their surroundings. Outside of work, she’s a member of the Foundation Performance Association. She also volunteers with the Architectural Construction and Engineering Mentorship program, where she teaches high schoolers about the construction industry while helping them develop projects that they present at the end of each year.
